The European Commission is launching a traineeship for people with disabilities in order to facilitate their professional integration. The purpose of this action is :

  • to offer persons with disabilities a working experience as a trainee in the European Commission, thereby enhancing their opportunities for future employment;
  • to allow them to become familiar with the workings of the European Institutions;
  • to apply the European Commission's equal opportunities principles to young university graduates with disabilities ;
  • to raise awareness of disability among Commission staff and to remove barriers to the integration of people with disabilities;
  • to provide the European Commission with the contribution and positive experience that disabled trainees will bring to its work and culture.

Journalist School Project

The JSP initiative is open to all students at the University of Malta. The aim is to encourage university students to write researched journalistic features about FDAD’s issues of diversity and discrimination.

The article must be linked to the European context of fighting discrimination through European legislation, policies, programmes and projects and must focus on one or several of the following grounds of discrimination: racial or ethnic origin, religion or belief, disability, age, and/or sexual orientation.

JSP submissions must be based on the student’s own research and refer to the FDAD campaign. All articles must have a minimum of 750 words and a maximum of 1,500 words and they must be published between December 2010 and the end of February 2011.

The Editors of four national dailies have also extended their collaboration in this project.

Students may indicate the preferred daily where they would like their article to be published. Finally, their article should be written in the same language of their preferred newspaper.

For further information, interested students may contact me as the FDAD National Correspondent for Malta, at carmel.bonello@bpc.com.mt
