FITA's services focus mainly on researching and disseminating information relating to Information and Commuication Technology and how this can help disabled persons to improve their quality of life. We seek to work in synergy with the different organisations, which contribute towards achieving a society, wherein disabled and elderly persons can participate fully as equal citizens.
The FITA premises hosts an information resource centre which can be used by those entities and individuals seeking guidance in the sourcing of specialised computer equipment and software. The Resource Centre Catalogue is available in MS Word format. This information is updated regularaly, so make sure you visit often and forward any queries about information you are looking for to the officer in charge of the centre. We are also hosting online versions of interesting articles and papers from Teaching Exceptional Children, CEC and other publications. If you have specific ICT and disability interests, you might also wish to view the fact sheets provided through Abilitynet. If you find this service useful or have suggestions please let us know.
The FITA Resource Centre is constantly updated with the latest information on Assistive Technology and software products. It is our goal to ensure that this information resource is constantly updated with catalogues, demo software, hardware documentation and other specialised publications relating to ICT and disability.
Membership is open to all entities and individuals interested in providing support to individuals with disabilities, in education and the at the work place. Assistive and Augmentative Communication Technology is widely recognized and prized for the beneficial effect that technology can have on the quality of life of disabled persons. Software Catalogues
A number of regularly updated specialised software catalogues is available in printed and CD-Rom format. The reference includes Social Learning Software titles from Information PLUS and Widget software.

Trial Software and Demos
Where possible we try and make most software available for members to try out and evaluate for themselves. Besides being able to borrow demonstration/catalogue software from FITA, one can also try out full products (which make part of our reference section), on a computer workstation dedicated to software demonstrations and the use of assistive technology products.
Catalogues
This section covers all electronic equipment and is not limited to computer equipment and peripherals, but includes also communications technology, organisers, time pieces and other technologies which help improve our quality of life.
