Resource Centre Policy & Procedures
The Foundation for Information Technology Accessibility Resource Centre provides a wide range of information about disability and technology through its library and web site. The Resource Centre serves members of the public who have an interest in disability issues and research. It also serves service providers including counselors and therapists, community organizations, researchers, educators, students and policy makers.
Library Access
The library may be accessed by any member of the public. The Resource Centre library will loan materials to individuals or organizations who pay an annual membership fee. It will loan materials to disabled persons and their close relatives without the need for such membership. The Resource Centre will maintain regular hours of operation for patrons to access its holdings.The Collection
The Collection of The Foundation for Information Technology Accessibility Resource Centre includes books, videos, audio cassettes, journal articles, newsletters and a computer for the public to access the library's catalogue.Services
The library will circulate books, audio-cassettes and videos to members. New titles will be listed in the Library Catalogue and on The Foundation for Information Technology Accessibility web site. Reference items and journal articles may be accessed during opening hours.Hours of Operation
The hours of operation of the Resource Centre library are 9:00 am - 3:00 pm on Mondays and Wednesdays. The library will be closed for lunch between 12:00 - 1:00 pm unless a pre-arranged appointment has been made between a patron and library staff.Annual Membership Fees
Membership is free.Loans
- Organizations are responsible for all materials loaned to their staff and/or members.
- The borrowing period for books and audio-cassettes is 2 weeks. A maximum of 3 books, videos, CD-Roms or audio-cassettes may be borrowed at one time.
- Items will not be loaned to members who have outstanding overdue items.
- Members will be charged for overdue items at the rate of 50 cents per day.
- Reserves can be placed on items that are in circulation.
- One renewal can be made before or on the due date of items on loan only if these items are not on reserve. This renewal can be made over the telephone.
- Reference materials and journals must remain in the Resource Centre Library.
